Members of the public are advised that scams involving individuals falsely impersonating lawyers, law firms, or legal representatives are becoming increasingly common. These scams often involve demands for urgent payment, requests for personal or financial information, or false claims regarding legal matters.
We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and to independently verify the identity and contact information of any person claiming to represent a lawyer or law firm before sending money or disclosing sensitive information.
If you are uncertain about the legitimacy of a communication, contact the lawyer or firm directly using publicly available contact information which is located in our Member Directory at Member Directory | Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society.
Members are also encouraged to review the NSBS Resources for Identifying Malicious Emails to remain aware of common tactics used by cybercriminals.
