NSBS and CBA-NS Co-Sponsor Prisme Pride Reception

On the evening of July 23, the Society and the NSBS Gender Equity Committee partnered with the Canadian Bar Association – Nova Scotia Branch (CBA-NS) and the Canadian Association of LGBTQ2S+ Lawyers (Call-Acal) for a special Pride Reception.

This year, Call-Acal’s Prisme 2026 conference, Unity in Law: Shaping the Rights of 2SLGBTQ+ Rights, was hosted at the Halifax Convention Centre. The annual conference hosted over 200 legal professionals from across Canada for an inclusive and collaborative forum to discuss current issues facing 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in the legal profession and the advancement of 2SLGBTQ+ rights in Canada and around the world.

To celebrate Pride and support Prisme 2026, the Society partnered with CBA-NS to co-sponsor their 2026 Pride Reception at the Alexander Keith’s Brewery. The social was open to attendees of the Prisme conference, as well as CBA and NSBS members. The evening was an opportunity to connect with legal professionals from across the country and celebrate the history of Pride month.

In further partnership with this year’s Prisme Conference, our Equity and Access team got the chance to speak with attendees at the Conference’s Community Fair, where our team shared a brochure on ways members of the public and legal profession can support the 2SLGBTQ+ community through the NSBS.

The Society would like to extend a warm thank you to everyone who could attend to help us celebrate Pride and all that it represents.
