On October 8th, fifty-six members of the legal profession came together at Benjamin Bridge Winery to celebrate the life and legacy of trailblazing Nova Scotia lawyer and mentor Dara Gordon QC.
The annual Dara Gordon Leadership Event, sponsored by McInnes Cooper, provides an opportunity to celebrate women in the legal profession, while creating a space for mentorship, networking, and dialogue between women at various stages of their legal careers.
This year’s event included a special panel discussion titled “Beyond the Traditional Path: Legal Careers for Women.” Moderated by NSBS President Candee McCarthy, the panel was composed of Justice of the Peace Darlene Lamey and NSBS Interim Executive Director Jennifer Pink, who discussed issues affecting women in law, shared experiences, and highlighted diverse career paths and leadership opportunities for women within the province.
Retired McInnes Cooper lawyer Wendy Johnston was also invited to speak about her friend and mentor Dara Gordon QC.

The Society would like to thank all this year’s attendees, our wonderful panelists and moderator, McInnes Cooper for their ongoing support and sponsorship, and our gracious hosts at Benjamin Bridge Winery. Thank you all for making this important event possible.
We hope to see you again next year.
