NSBS At Large Council Election Acclamations 2025

At the close of the NSBS At Large Council Election nomination period, the Society was pleased to have received nominations from three excellent candidates—Colin Fraser, Jasmine Ghosn, and Gregg Knudsen.

Since three At Large positions were vacant, these individuals have been acclaimed as members of Council. Congratulations to Colin for returning to Council for a second term, and to Jasmine and Gregg for joining Council as new members!

Colin Fraser

Colin J. M. Fraser practices at Hood Fraser d’Entremont in Yarmouth. Colin was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2008 and represents many clients throughout Western Nova Scotia. He has a general practice in civil litigation, criminal law, family law, real estate and wills & estates.

Colin was elected Member of Parliament for West Nova in 2015, serving until 2019. He is currently President of the Yarmouth County Barristers’ Society and serves on the Board of Juniper House and the Yarmouth Refugee Support Group.

Jasmine Ghosn

Jasmine M. Ghosn launched her legal career in Toronto, where she practiced for 20 years, including at a Bay Street law firm, before moving back to her home province of Nova Scotia in 2020. She currently practises in both Nova Scotia and Ontario, and has experience in litigation, in-house counsel, advocacy, alternative dispute resolution, professional regulation, privacy law, health law and policy, employment law, corporate and commercial transactions, research and writing, and helping to manage an award-winning family business in Nova Scotia.

She has 25 years of experience representing the interests of regulated health care professionals in professional practice and regulation. She is past Chair of the OBA Health Law Section, and has been a CLE liaison for many years, developing continuing education programs for lawyers in Ontario. She is a former OBA Council Member and past Chair of the IPTA Review Board in Nova Scotia.

Jasmine is the President and founding member of Sisterhood of Diman Foundation, a Canadian Registered Charity.

Gregg Knudsen

Gregg W. Knudsen has been a member of the Society’s Finance Committee for nearly 11 years and previously served on the Trust Accounts Committee. He is currently Chair of the Motor Vehicle Appeal Board and recently served as Chair of the Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act Review Board. In that role, he chaired adjudicative panels, managed the Board’s functions and oversaw the implementation of the recent amendments to the Act.

Gregg has served on several law reform initiatives including the Probate Act Reform Project Legislative Subcommittee and the Law Reform Commission of Nova Scotia’s Report on Reform of the Wills Act. Following this he was asked to contribute to the Bar Admission Course materials incorporating the then new Probate Act as well as the trust accounts reporting standard for lawyers as executors and proctors.

He served on the CBA’s national Charities and Not-for-Profit Law Section before founding and chairing the first Nova Scotia section. He also served as an Adjudicator of the Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia for 13 years.
