Associate Lawyer, Harbinger Law Inc.

Harbinger Law Inc. is an exciting legal start-up focused on providing excellent client service in a unique collaborative affiliation with our colleagues at Baker Tilly Nova Scotia Inc. Founded by lawyers with a combined experience of over 25 years, we provide entrepreneurs and private clients with legal services in corporate law, tax and estate planning. We do this with a constant focus on improving our work and the way we work collaboratively to best serve our clients.

We are looking for an Associate Lawyer who wants to learn from experienced legal service providers, while helping us continue to modernize service delivery.

Your Contribution to the Story:

At Harbinger Law, our leadership team is dedicated to creating the best experience for our employees. As Associate Lawyer, you will work collaboratively with our team, our clients and other advisors to plan and implement tax effective strategies and transactions for entrepreneurs and private clients. You will also contribute by helping to train and mentor other team members, and by helping to improve our service delivery processes.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

-Provide outstanding client service and legal advice, including direct communications with clients
-Review and draft wills, trusts and other estate planning documents
-Review and draft agreements and other corporate documents
-Actively manage all aspects of corporate and tax-planned transactions
-Provide research support

A successful candidate will have:

-Membership (or eligibility for membership) in the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, in good standing
-Minimum of 4 years’ experience in providing legal services to entrepreneurs, including managing transactions and preparing legal documents
-Strong teamwork and communication skills, trustworthy, accountable, proactive and a positive work attitude
-Knowledge and interest in providing legal advice to entrepreneurs and managers about day-to-day business operations, as well as major transactions
-Desire to mentor and coach junior team members
-Ability to keep a service focus under pressure, manage priorities and meet deadlines
