THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Halifax office is excited to welcome an Associate Lawyer to our growing Wills & Estates practice group. In this role, you will work closely with clients on a diverse range of matters, from drafting will and trusts to handling probate and estate litigation. This practice group offers the opportunity to gain broader exposure to more sophisticated or high value estates including wealth transfers and complex multi-generational estate planning involving trusts and tax planning. In this role, you will handle a full spectrum of wills and estates law matters. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing legal guidance and advice on estate planning matters, including wills, powers of attorneys, and personal directives.
  • Providing legal guidance and advice on Probate and Administration of Estates.
  • Maintaining excellent communication with clients, support staff and colleagues.
  • Other duties as required.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3+ years of wills and estates law experience;
  • Brings a compassionate, client-centered approach to the practice of Wills and Estates;
  • Strong analytical and legal writing abilities;
  • Demonstrated excellent client service and communication skills;
  • Strong research and writing skills and demonstrated ability to navigate complex issues;
  • Proven effective client and practice management skills;
  • Self-motivated and can work independently but also values working collaboratively, and
  • Strong analytical and legal writing abilities.
