MacGillivray Case Boyd Law is a general practice law firm in Antigonish. We seek a full-time property paralegal.
The successful candidate will provide paralegal support on residential and commercial real estate matters. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage files from opening to closing.
Key responsibilities:
- Organization, management, and completion of real estate transaction files from start to finish with minimal supervision;
- Preparation of legal documents, correspondence, and reports;
- Liaising with clients, lenders, municipal offices, land registration offices, other legal offices, and real estate agents;
- Handling closing, trust accounting matters, and post-closing reporting;
- Providing other administrative support as required including transcribing dictations, maintaining lawyer’s schedules, ordering office supplies, covering reception, covering accounting, and delivery of documents to other legal offices and/or lenders; and
- Occasional assistance on other types of files including family, estate planning, probate, corporate / commercial and criminal.
Qualifications and experience:
- Experience working in a law firm or legal setting is an asset;
- Experience with real estate law and the Nova Scotia land registration system is an asset;
- Legal Assistant/Paralegal diploma or certificate is an asset;
- Knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel is required;
- Experience with Cosmolex is an asset
- • Ability to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure;
- Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn;
- Must be able to take initiative, and work with minimal supervision;
- A valid driver’s license and car are required.
Regular full-time position, Monday to Friday, with working hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications
