Job Overview
RWR is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our lawyers on complex litigation files, with a particular focus on detail and litigation support. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys working with large volumes of documents, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable managing lawyers’ schedules.
Experience in insurance litigation is considered an asset; however, candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
- Provide day-to-day legal and administrative support to lawyers
- Prepare and format correspondence, court documents, and other legal materials with a high degree of accuracy
- Coordinate, organize, and manage large volumes of litigation documents and emails using document management systems
- Assist with document productions, including affidavits of documents, expert briefing materials, and related filings
- Upload, code, and manage documents within litigation support platforms, including Casepoint
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate client meetings
- Meet deadlines while managing competing priorities and reprioritizing as needed
- Provide overflow support to other assistants and team members as required
- Perform general office administrative tasks, including handling mail, answering phones, ordering supplies, and greeting visitors
- Perform other duties as required to support the legal team
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Post-secondary education in a Legal Assistant or Paralegal program, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in a law firm or litigation support environment
- Experience supporting litigation files and working with document management systems considered an asset
- Exposure to Casepoint, Clio, or similar legal software is considered a strong asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- High level of attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
