Associate Lawyer – Chester Law

Chester Law is a full-service law firm located in the heart of Chester on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore. We are seeking a qualified and experienced lawyer for a 1-year fixed term, on a part-time or full-time basis with potential for a permanent opportunity. This is a flexible opportunity ideal for a self-motivated legal professional who can work independently and deliver high-quality legal services.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a diverse caseload
  • Collaborate with our experienced lawyers and staff across a range of matters
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents and agreements
  • Conduct legal research and provide clear, concise recommendations to clients
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)/Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the Nova Scotia Bar Association
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the practice of law
  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and time-management abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity, and maintaining client confidentiality

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in one or more of the following areas: family law, real estate, wills and estates, corporate/commercial law, and civil litigation. While experience across multiple practice areas would be considered an asset, we recognize that candidates may have developed expertise in only one or two of these fields and encourage qualified applicants to apply. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to focus primarily on their areas of strength while receiving support to expand their practice over time.
