Predicting Risk & Remand: A Legal Education Seminar

November 4 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

Join the East Coast Prison Justice Society and the Schulich Criminal Justice Coalition for a legal education seminar featuring leading experts Dr. Anthony Doob, Dr. Nicole Myers, and Robert Wright. Against the backdrop of rising remand rates and new legislation like Bill C-14, this discussion will examine what research tells us about the evidence used to predict risk in bail decision-making, and the uncertainty inherent to predicting future behaviour. Bringing together prosecution and defence counsel, academics, and students, the seminar will critically explore the implications of risk prediction for bail, release conditions, and pre-trial detention.
When: November 4, 2026 at 6:30pm AST (2 hours)
Where: Dalhousie University, Weldon Law Building, Room #104
