Following a 15-day open nomination period, we are pleased to announce that Rob Kennedy, KC, has been named as the Society’s Second Vice-President for the 2026/2027 term.
“I welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively with the leadership team, Council, and staff. It is critically important to me that the legal profession thrive in Nova Scotia. There is a lot of work to be done focussed on protecting the public interest, enhancing professional excellence, and strengthening confidence in the administration of justice,” says Rob Kennedy, KC.
Mr. Kennedy will assume the role of Second Vice-President in June of 2026, following Candee McCarthy’s appointment as NSBS President and Patricia Jones’ transition to First Vice-President.
“Rob has consistently been an engaged Council member; he’s always well prepared and measured in his decision making. I look forward to continuing to work alongside Rob. Council and the Society are fortunate that he has stepped forward to take on this important leadership role,” says Acting President / First Vice-President Candee McCarthy.

Rob Kennedy, KC – Second Vice-President 2026/27
Rob Kennedy, KC, is Senior Crown Counsel with the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service (PPS). He graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Dalhousie Law School in 2008 with a Bachelor of Laws. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in June 2009.
Since 2017, Rob has been an adjunct professor in the Criminology Department at Saint Mary’s University, teaching Criminal Law as well as Sexualized Violence. He previously taught Business Law at Acadia University from 2012 to 2017. He is a faculty member of the Halifax Regional Police Cadet Program.
Rob received his King’s Counsel designation in February 2025
