Connect with colleagues across the province and contribute to your profession by becoming a member of the Society’s Council.
The Society is seeking to fill a vacancy on Council for a lawyer representing the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) District. As an NSBS Council member, you will help lead the Society by lending your unique voice and insights to decisions that impact Nova Scotia’s legal profession.
As the governing body for the profession, Council approves the Society’s Strategic Plan, sets the Society’s policies, and oversees the regulation of the legal profession in Nova Scotia. To do this, the Society requires committed, diverse, and effective leadership on our Council.
As a member of the Society’s Council, applicants should demonstrate strong communication skills, unquestionable integrity, and respect for others.
Applicants should also possess proven experience in leadership roles, with a focus on experience in regulation, governance, access to justice, and equity matters.
We value diversity on our Council and welcome applications from all equity-deserving groups. We also have the technology for volunteers to attend meetings remotely. All names put forward will be considered and treated confidentially.
