International Women’s Day – March 8, 2026

International Women’s Day reminds us that progress toward gender equality is real, but far from complete. People often assume the work is finished simply because women are present in the profession in ever-growing numbers. In reality, Nova Scotia legal workplaces still reflect gaps in safety, opportunity, and representation.

The Society recognizes International Women’s Day alongside the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (March 21) and the Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31). These interrelated observances remind us that gender equity is inseparable from other struggles for justice and equality.

International Women’s Day is not only a celebration of progress made to date; it is a reminder of the amount of work still left to do in the face of increasing opposition.
