The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society Council has appointed Director of Education & Credentials Jennifer Pink as the Society’s Interim Executive Director, following the announced departure of CEO, Cheryl Hodder, KC.

“I am delighted to have Council’s endorsement to lead the NSBS through a period of transition, but also of opportunity,” said Pink.

“Cheryl leaves us in a great position – with the NSBS’s three-year Strategic Plan, together with the recommendations in Douglas Ruck, KC’s 2024 Report, Regaining Trust – and a clear mandate to advance their implementation. Her leadership and mentorship set us up well for the coming year and beyond.”

Ms. Pink joined the NSBS in 2011 and has worked across its primary regulatory functions of Education & Credentials and Professional Responsibility. She was the Society’s first Legal Services Support Counsel, focusing on supporting ethical practice and regulatory compliance through practice advice and resources.

Michelle Kelly, KC, NSBS Council President, had this to say, “the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society is fortunate to be able to tap into the rich experience and professionalism of our directorial body during this time of transition. Ms. Pink has demonstrated her commitment to public interest regulation and to the Society as a whole over her last 14 years of service.”

We are thankful for her ongoing dedication to the organization’s betterment, and on a personal note, I very much look forward to working with her more directly.”

Pink’s position will take effect October 15, 2025, and be held for approximately one year, while the Council assesses the Society’s future leadership model.
