Recent Property Online Service Interruption: What the Public Needs to Know

As the public interest regulator of the legal profession, the Society is aware of a service interruption for Property Online, which is operated by the Provincial Government. We are told this appears to be resolved, as of May 13th.

This is a busy time for real estate transactions. The interruption had an impact and caused stress for clients.

The role of a lawyer in a real estate transaction is to perform certain tasks to protect the client’s interest. Much hinges on Property Online, including the ability to obtain critical information and file documents like deeds and mortgages. Much of that was impossible. Through it all, the job of the lawyer is to assure the clients’ interests are adequately protected.

We ask everyone to build in extra and adequate time and patience for a reasonable period after the restoration of service to allow for catching up on work delayed because of it.
