Legal Assistant – Chester Law (Chester)

Seeking a Legal Assistant to Join our Team at Chester Law

Chester Law is a full-service law firm located in the heart of Chester on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore. We are seeking a legal assistant to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of practice areas, with a primary focus on criminal law, family law, civil litigation, residential tenancies, and employment law. It is an excellent position for someone who enjoys diverse, fast-paced, and engaging legal work.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, among other things:

  • Drafting, proofreading, and compiling court documents, contracts, forms, and correspondence in an accurate and efficient manner;
  • Communicating with clients by phone, email, and in person to collect information and coordinate meetings with the legal team;
  • Managing deadlines, court dates, and closing dates across multiple files;
  • Assisting with data entry and billing;
  • Performing general office and clerical duties; and
  • Carrying out other related duties as required.

Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An interest in family law, criminal law, and civil litigation;
  • Experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Experience working with Clio is considered an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn;
  • The ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks; and
  • Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a security clearance through our office, which is necessary for work on contract files. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
