We are seeking a motivated Associate Lawyer (with at least 2+ years’ experience) to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys litigation, takes ownership of their files, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and advance litigation files from initial referral through to resolution with increasing autonomy
- Prepare pleadings, motions, and other court materials
- Prepare detailed liability and damages assessments, and opinions
- Prepare for and conduct discoveries, mediations, and Judicial settlement conferences
- Work closely with partners on complex insurance defence matters
- Build strong client relationships and contribute to excellent client service
What You Bring
- Member in good standing with a Canadian provincial bar (or eligible for admission to the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society)
- At least 2+ years of litigation experience, preferably insurance defence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and professionalism
- A team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently
