Proposed new Professional Standards for review and input

Several proposed new Professional Standards were introduced to Council at the September 23 meeting. Consultations are taking place with the membership on the following: 

  • New Family Law Standard #15 – Electronic Information and Social Networking – Robert Chipman QC introduced a new standard proposed by the Professional Standards (Family) Committee. It is now being communicated to the membership for review and consultation, and will be brought back to Council for approval. See the Request for Input on Family Law Standard #15. Input is due by October 21.​
       
  • New Criminal Law Standards #2 and #3 – A Guilty Plea and Withdrawal of a Guilty Plea – Luke Merriman and Mark Scott QC introduced new standards proposed by the Professional Standards (Criminal) Committee. They will soon be communicated to the membership for review and consultation, and brought back to Council for approval.
     
  • New Real Estate Standard #2.7 – Subdivision/Consolidation – Matthew Moir, on behalf of the Professional Standards (Real Estate) Committee, introduced a new standard proposed by the Committee. It was communicated to the membership for review and will be brought back to Council for approval. See the Request for Input on Real Estate Standard #2.7Input was due by October 7.
