What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the IT Administrator provides customer service and oversees the technical requirements of Society staff focusing on software and hardware problem solving. The position has a key technology education role with staff and ensures the Society continues moving forward with technology. The position sources, develops and recommends technology policies, standards and procedures and systems as appropriate. The IT Administrator maintains a computer network of more than 45 workstations and a number of servers using different operating systems. The IT Administrator must have the ability to quickly troubleshoot problems and respond appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring the complete IT network including physical and virtual servers, firewall, switches, wireless access points, UPS, computers are fully functional and working at optimal performance levels
- Implement, maintain, administer all hardware and software including software licenses, communications equipment, photocopiers, computers, mobile devices, and servers (Exchange, Database, Application, Domain Controller, Microsoft 365 suite including Teams and Teams phone, Web, Terminal, Document Management, etc.)
- Work with external security monitoring team to address security issues.
- Provide end user hardware and software support and training for staff and committee members.
- Manage end user system access controls and new user setup, provide on-boarding of new staff along with training in all aspects of hardware and software systems..
- Source, recommend and implement innovative solutions to improve workflow and processes (software, hardware, telecommunications, mobile phones, etc.)
- Ensure all IT systems are backed up in accordance with approved procedures and backups are tested on a scheduled basis.
- Ensure software security patches and licenses are kept current.
- Maintain a current disaster recovery plan and test the plan on a regular basis
- Maintain a database of hardware, software, contracts, licenses, and passwords
- Participate in and help plan special projects
- Maintain a policy and procedure manual
- Other technical support as required
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in information technology, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Experience managing a complex network
- Ability to use support tools such as remote desktop, antivirus and incident management tools to resolve customer requests in a timely manner is required.

- Specific IT Skills:
- Windows 10 and Windows 11. Windows server system, MS Exchange, Active Directory, Group Policies, Terminal services, Active Sync
- Database system (SQL Server 2016)
- Server and VPN (VMware)
- Network (Meraki firewall, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLAN)
- Software ( iMIS membership database system, Sage 300, Microsoft 365 suite, Adobe Acrobat and Worldox document management system)
- Data storage (NAS)
