Returning home to Halifax in 1995, she earned her law degree at Dalhousie Law School and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2000.

Her community service has involved a range of organizations. Since 2013, Loretta has been a member of the organizing committee for the Ruth Goldbloom Ladies Golf Classic in support of Kids Help Phone. She is also Chair of the College of Registered Nurses Registration Appeals Committee.
