Your Impact as Recorder
Reporting to the VP Assets, the Recorder is responsible for acting as the representative and point of contact for the Nova Scotia Assessment Appeals Tribunal (NSAAT) under the direction of the NSAAT Chair for Tribunal governance. This includes overseeing the day-to-day activities and providing administrative functions for the NSAAT.
How You Will Contribute
• Acts as the representative and point of contact for the NSAAT.
• Performs executive administration for the NSAAT Chair in support of the tribunal, including carrying out direction from the NSAAT Chair for the governance of the tribunal.
• Oversees the day-to-day operations of the NSAAT logistics including workload direction to NSAAT resources, including but not limited to:
• Receiving and recording of appeals
• Hearing scheduling, including communication with Tribunal members
• Prehearing activities
• Creating dockets
• Responding to inquiries and requests for information
• Maintaining file structures relating to appeal records and correspondences
• Administering formal correspondence related to appeals, inquiries, and scheduling of hearings
• Recording and sharing NSAAT decisions
• Receiving, packaging, and sending of submissions to the Tribunal
• Processing member expense forms
• Regularly communicates with property owners, appellants, respondents, and agents to maintain ongoing relationships.
• Completes general office duties such as required.
• Performs other related duties or participates in other activities, as assigned.
What You Bring
• A diploma from a Paralegal or Business Administration program is desired.
• A minimum of 5 years of related administrative experience is required.
• An acceptable combination of relevant training and work experience may be considered.

• Independent self-starter with the ability to operate at a high level with general direction.
• Outgoing and resilient individual with a positive attitude, exceptional people skills, and a natural ability to connect with others.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, even when faced with last-minute adjustments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Assets
• A University Degree would be considered an asset.
• Paralegal experience in litigation is considered an asset.
• Client service training is considered an asset.
