About the Role:
As a Legal Research and Financial Analysis Associate, you will play a vital role in guiding our clients through complex financial matters related to family law. Your responsibilities will include:
• Conducting in-depth business valuations to assess the value of marital assets, including small businesses, partnerships, and professional practices.
• Providing expertise on retirement plans and pension funds, analyzing various accounts such as pensions, RRSPs, and TFSAs to ensure equitable distribution during divorce proceedings.
• Offering strategic guidance on estate planning techniques, such as wills, trusts, and beneficiary designations, to protect our clients’ assets and plan for the future.
• Utilizing forensic accounting techniques to uncover hidden assets, trace financial transactions, and identify irregularities in financial records.
• Providing comprehensive knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including income tax, capital gains tax, and estate tax, to minimize tax consequences and optimize financial outcomes for our clients.
Qualifications:
• A law degree and membership in good standing with NSBS.
• Expertise in financial matters related to family law, including business valuation, retirement plans, estate planning, forensic accounting, and tax law.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to navigate complex financial situations and provide strategic advice.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal and financial concepts in a clear and concise manner.
• A proactive mindset and a commitment to staying abreast of legal and financial developments in the field.
