The Province of Nova Scotia is seeking applications from members of the public who are interested in being appointed to the Advisory Committee on Provincial Judicial Appointments. The application deadline is 6 November 2020.
The Advisory Committee on Provincial Judicial Appointments reviews applications from candidates who have applied to become provincial judges and interviews qualified candidates. The committee keeps a list of recommended candidates and provides it to the Minister of Justice to make appointments.
Committee members are appointed for 1 or 2 years and may be reappointed. The committee meets twice a year. Members will receive $150 per meeting, along with reimbursement for expenses.
The committee is made up of 4 members appointed by the Minister of Justice, 2 lawyers appointed by the Society and, currently, the Chief Judge of the Provincial Court.
