FRAUD ALERT: Trojan virus scam posing as title insurance company

Please be advised that a new US email scam is targeting real estate lawyers and their bank accounts. Title professionals have been receiving emails that appear to be from their underwriter, asking them to “Confirm your wire instructions with us” by clicking a link embedded in the email. This link will activate a Trojan malware program that will track your keystrokes (including passwords and login information) and send them to the scammer.

Be reminded that scammers continue to create new and convincing ways to target new victims – be vigilant with any questionable communications. As with all unsolicited emails you receive, never click on any attachments or links. If you do receive a suspicious email from a service or organization to which you belong, contact them directly to confirm any communications but do not use contact information provided in the email.
