Art Auction in Support of the Halifax Refugee Clinic
RAAD is going to be hosting the Annual Art Auction in the Weldon Atrium on Thursday, March 14 at 7pm until 9pm. There will be music, snacks, wine, a raffle basket, and ART from both students and local artists to be auctioned all to raise money for the Halifax Refugee Clinic. All are welcome, and entry is free of charge!
We are still looking for art pieces to add to the beautiful pieces that have been donated so far. We interpret art very broadly. Crafts, house decor, sewing, knitting, painting, pottery, drawing, photos, prints, poetry, YOU NAME IT. You can donate with your name attached, or anonymously if you prefer. Please send us an email if you have something to contribute or if you have any questions about the event! firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange pick up.
The Halifax Refugee Clinic is a deserving not for profit in our community that helps refugees with legal and settlement services free of charge. The Halifax Refugee Clinic was founded in 2000 to assist those fleeing persecution in their home countries, and arriving in Nova Scotia in search of a safe haven. They provide both legal and settlement services. Since legal aid is not available in our province for immigration matters, the clinic is the only no cost option available in Nova Scotia for refugee claimants that cannot afford a lawyer. The clinic receives no government funding, and although they receive the support of the Law Foundation of Nova Scotia, they rely heavily on private donations and fundraising initiatives such as this.
