Please join the Society in celebrating excellence in Nova Scotia’s legal profession, as we present the 2018 Distinguished Service Award to Lawrence (Larry) K. Evans QC of Port Hawkesbury, Cape Breton. Larry recently retired from EMM Law where he was a partner for 40 years.
We will also present Bill Fairbanks QC and Carl Holm QC with their 50-Year Practising Certificates.
Several law student achievements will also be honoured:
- Nico J. Jones, articled clerk at Stewart McKelvey, is recipient of the 2018 NSBS Presidents’ Leadership Award;
- Rabiah Murium and Hilary Angrove, second-year law students at the Schulich School of Law, both received the 2018 NSBS Presidents' Leadership Internship scholarship. This past summer, Rabiah interned at Halifax Partnership and Hilary at Common Good Solutions in Halifax
D’Arcy Leitch received the 2018 Race and the Law Essay Prize for his paper, "The Constitutionality of Classification: Aboriginal Overrepresentation and Security Policy in Canadian Federal Penitentiaries".
