A Journey in Reconciliation: Update on the MMIWG (Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls) National Inquiry
Speaker: Sean Foreman, Nova Scotia Department of Justice
In response to calls for action from Indigenous families, communities and organizations, the Governments of Canada and every Province and Territory launched an independent National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in September 2016. Canada’s first truly National public inquiry will be ending its work by December 2018, with a Final Report to be delivered in April 2019. Sean will provide an overview of the Inquiry’s important mandate, its many hearings and the remaining work to be completed, from the perspective of crown counsel representing Nova Scotia in the inquiry process.
