CBA-NS Joint Constitutional & Human Rights Law and Labour & Employment Law Section Meeting

Implications of British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal v. Schrenk, 2017 SCC 62
Speaker: Courtney Barbour, Barteaux Durnford
Speaker Courtney Barbour will discuss the Supreme Court of Canada decision in British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal v Schrenk, 2017 SCC 62. In this recent decision, the Court held that BC’s human right legislation is broad enough to prohibit discrimination against employees by their co workers, even when those co workers have a different employer. Ms. Barbour will explore the potential implications of this decision for human rights, labour and employment lawyers and their clients.
APRIL & MAY ARE BRING-A-BUDDY MONTHS
In April & May consider bringing a non-member buddy to a Section Meeting. Sections provide opportunities for lawyers to further their professional education and to keep ahead of current developments within the profession. The Nova Scotia Branch wants to show non-members what they’re missing!! Your buddy must register and pay the registration fee as well – spread the word so as not to miss out on this opportunity!
