Director of Legal Education, Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador
The Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, the legal profession's regulatory body responsible for the protection of the public interest, is seeking a Director of Legal Education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Executive Director, the position plans, organizes, leads and manages the Law Society’s education, admissions and competence requirements and programs including the Bar Admission Course, Continuing Legal Education Program, Student Admissions, Articling Program, Call to Bar Requirements, Transfers and Re-Admissions to Practice programs. The Director ensures all aspects of the programs, including service delivery, are operated in accordance with the Law Society Act, 1999, the Rules, the Code of Professional Conduct and that programs are consistent with the mandate of the Law Society and the Society’s standards, policies and procedures. The Director ensures program offerings are timely and relevant; mentors and engages staff; provides support to Law Society committees; and liaises with key stakeholders, including members of the profession and the general public, on behalf of the Law Society.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant will have a passion for continuous learning and possess a demonstrated ability for results oriented management experience and an ability to develop relevant adult education programs for delivery using advanced technology and various media; supplemented by education in a related field. The successful applicant will demonstrate effective analytical, communication and program development skills to advance the mandate of the Law Society. If a lawyer, membership in good standing or eligibility for membership with the Law Society is required.
