As the Society’s governing body, Council ensures we carry out our purpose to uphold and protect the public interest in the practice of law. The Society’s various Committees, task forces and working groups support Council’s work and initiatives.

Current Council
Council includes 21 voting members who are elected lawyers from across the province, as well as five appointed public representatives. Learn about the Society's current Council members.

Council Meetings
Council meets eight or nine times per year to discuss and address the policy issues affecting the Society. These meetings are open to the public and take place at the Society’s office or in the community at our Council in the Community events.
Council Elections
The Society’s Council elections occur every odd-numbered year to elect practising members for district positions & non-practising or practising members for the at-large member positions. The next election is 2023,
