Society newsCode of Professional Conduct: enhanced content now available
The Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society is moving toward a new model of regulating legal services, in a manner that is risk focused, proactive, principled and proportionate. The goals of this approach include enhancing the quality of legal services and encouraging ethical legal practice. In furtherance of these goals, the publication of information regarding the ethical obligations of lawyers is available on our website.
Recent changes to the Code of Professional Conduct add value to its content for members of the Society and the public. Contextual links now provide ethics information and digests of Hearing Panel and Complaints Investigation Committee decisions. Each link relates to the rule the user is currently viewing, providing useful and immediate guidance on the application and interpretation of that particular rule in Nova Scotia. Bookmarks on the left side ensure easier navigation through the Code.
It is anticipated that the additional resources now available through the Code will provide useful guidance to both lawyers and members of the public. Please note that further resources will be added to the Code as they become available.
