Lawyers are reminded of Rule 33.09 – Counsel for a Limited Purpose, which provides that a judge may permit a lawyer to act as counsel for a limited purpose on behalf of a party who otherwise acts on their own. The lawyer should advise the Court of the scope of the limited retainer, so Court staff know whether communication should be directed to counsel or to the party. Read More

As part of our refinement of the Society’s library services, phase one of which was implemented last year, the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society will cease providing internet service at most County Barristers’ Libraries effective May 30, 2013. The computer equipment and printers will remain in the libraries and become the property of the local Bars. Read More
