The 10th ICPS International Regulatory Affairs Symposium will focus on the theme 'Smart Regulation in a Challenging Global Landscape'.

In an increasingly changing global landscape, the emergence of new industries, sectors and markets has presented new challenges to regulators. Regulators from all industries must consider how laws and regulations will impact rapidly growing industries and technologies. How do we regulate the risks of new innovations without damaging their full potential?

In order to cope with these new challenges, regulators now have to think smart about how they plan, implement or reform new and existing regulations. During these stages, it is vital for regulators to cooperate with stakeholders to promote fair regulations that assist with both developing and protecting the economy. This Symposium will explore new initiatives and ideas in regulation and how they can assist in overcoming the current challenges in a changing global environment.

Areas to be discussed include:

  • Latest Initiatives in Smart Regulation
  • Smart Regulation with Limited Resources
  • Collaborating with Stakeholders for Smarter Regulation
  • Utilising Impact Assessments to Inform Future Regulation
  • Regulating Data: Challenges in regulating data sensitivities and how to overcome them

The Symposium promises an internationally recognised line-up of leading figures and expert speakers who will offer an invaluable insight into the latest initiatives and developments in the field of regulatory affairs. As well as hearing key presentations, there will also be ample opportunity for delegates to engage in interactive discussion and debate.

Time will also be allocated – both through open floor discussions and during breakouts for lunch and refreshments – to share experiences and ideas related to regulatory affairs with the course’s speakers and fellow participants, allowing delegates to acquire a greater understanding of international best practice. Symposium delegates will also be invited to attend a drinks reception to further discuss the pertinent issues raised throughout the day in a more informal and less structured environment.
