The Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (LISNS) invites you to save the date for its very first Pro Bono Symposium March 27th, 2015 at the Halifax Central Library. This full day event (9:10am-3:00pm) will explore pro bono in Canada, Ontario and new directions/opportunities in NS, including pro bono in NS law firms, the LISNS Pro Bono Project and opportunities for Pro Bono Students Canada and law firms to forge partnerships. Doors to the library open at 9:00am.

Featured panelists include:

  • Chief Justice of Nova Scotia Michael MacDonald;
  • The Honourable Dennis O'Connor, Trustee Pro Bono Canada and former Assistant Chief Justice (Ontario Court of Appeal);
  • Lynn Burns, Executive Director of Pro Bono Law Ontario; and
  • Kristy Foreman Gear, National Pro Bono Coodinator, Federal Department of Justice

The day will conclude with a session open to the public focusing on The Role of Legal Information and the Self-Represented Client which will be moderated by Norma Lee MacLeod, Host of CBC Maritime Noon.

This is a free event and refreshments will be provided. CPD hours can be counted.
