Family Dynamics: The Effects of Power Imbalances and Abuse on the Family

This three-day course will assist you in learning how to utilize intake screening tools to assess whether mediation is appropriate, safe and fair for the respective individuals prior to the mediation and throughout the entire mediation process.

You will also explore the effects of family abuse and power imbalance on family members through role plays, and learn how to create a safety plan that enables individuals who choose mediation to participate in the process with safety as the foremost principle. The development of a parenting plan will complete the learning activities for this experiential course.

Participation in this course can be credited toward the Certificate in Conflict Resolution Studies.
