Enhancing access to legal services and the justice system for all Nova Scotians
Improving the Administration of Justice is one of two major strategic directions for the Society, established by Council in the 2013-2016 Strategic Framework. The priority for this work is enhancing access to legal services and the justice system for all Nova Scotians.
Approved by Council on February 19, 2014, the Access to Justice Action Plan supports the Society’s purpose to uphold and protect the public interest in the practice of law. It is also designed to assist the Society moving forward on these specific strategic initiatives for 2014-2015:
- examine and approve regulatory changes to enhance access to legal services, and
- advocate for enhanced access to legal services and to the justice system for equity-seeking* and economically disadvantaged groups.
- Report of the ad hoc Working Group on the Enforcement of Parenting Orders (November 6, 2008)
*Equity-seeking groups include women, Aboriginal peoples, racialized peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons seeking equality on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
