Litigation Counsel - Manulife Financial

Manulife Financial is currently seeking a dynamic individual to join its law department in a senior full-time or part-time Litigation Counsel position in Halifax.  The successful applicant will be part of a national team of litigators. The position involves evaluating contentious claims, and defending and enforcing the Company's legal rights through the litigation process throughout Atlantic Canada, as well as dealing with some arbitration and tribunal matters.

The ideal candidate will bring to the role extensive litigation experience and expertise, together with a solid understanding of insurance-related claims. The ideal candidate will possess the following specific qualifications and attributes:

• Member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society (minimum of 10 years)
• Experience as an insurance litigator
• Experience in litigating disability and life claims is an asset
• Excellent analytical, interpretive and research skills
• Proven negotiation and advocacy skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
